I started experiencing hearing loss in my early 30s. The doctor said the type of hearing loss I had was probably caused by an ear infection I had as a child. When I was 44 years old, the loss had progressed enough in one ear to require a hearing aid.

I eventually had to buy hearing aids for both ears. That was about 15 years ago…
