Learn About Other Countries Through YouTube Videos

Learn other languages too

If I hadn’t accidentally run across a YouTube vlog about Mexico in 2017, I wouldn’t be living here today. I’ve been living in Mazatlan for going on two years. Prior to that, I never had the slightest desire to even travel. When I learned that there were cheaper places to live than in the U.S., I knew I had to go. Now that I’m learning to speak Spanish, I want to go to Spain and try it out in that country. I’ve started watching vlogs produced by English-speaking foreigners who have moved to Spain.

For those of you who don’t know about YouTube, let me tell you that it has a wealth of information. There are tutorials on everything you can imagine, art, languages, cooking, travel, etc. I’m an artist and I love art tutorials and Spanish tutorials. If another language is your preference, you’ll find it on YouTube.

YouTube does show ads, but subscribing to them eliminates that. I don’t care to watch cable TV. My TV viewing consists of many YouTube vlogs and free movies. I subscribe for around $11 a month. It’s worth it to avoid the annoying ads. They now offer YouTube TV, but I’m not interested in it at this time. I don’t want the added expense, but who knows, maybe it’s a good deal.

Another Medium writer wrote an article saying YouTube is dead. I sure hope he is wrong. There is something on that platform for everyone young and old.

I’ve been gone for a while due to traveling and computer problems again. I want to give a big shout-out to Medium for reinstating our ability to write and edit on our mobile apps. I lost a lot of writing time when they eliminated it. Thank you, Medium!
