Queen of the Abandoned Blogs
And why I love Medium

I am Queen of the abandoned blogs. I even started a blog called Queen of the Abandoned Blogs, and I abandoned it. I paid a fortune in fees so I could monetize each blog.
Blogs I Abandoned
- An art blog
- A DIY blog
- A cat blog
- A dog blog
- A rambling blog
- A teatime blog
- Last but not least; Queen of the Abandoned Blogs
Those are just the ones I remember.
Junk Pile Blogs
Why did I abandon those blogs to the junk pile? Good question. At first, I thought it was because I got bored, which I did. But, I got bored after the first post.
I enjoyed building blogs more than I enjoyed writing on them. That’s true.
After much contemplation, I figured it out. I didn’t like writing knowing that nobody was reading my articles right away. I like instant gratification. I didn’t want to wait until I gradually built an audience.
Medium to the Rescue
A friend mentioned that she wrote for Medium. It had been a long time since I had written content for earnings. I never made much money doing it, and I wasn’t interested in starting again. But when this friend mentioned Medium, I thought I’d take a look. I liked reading the articles from the beginning. Not only are they well-written, but they’re interesting, too. I decided I’d give it a try.
Why I Like Writing for Medium
I’m a thinker, and I live in my head most of the time. Ideas pop into my mind like corn popping — it helps to have ADD — when they do, I think, I should write an article about that, but what’s the purpose? I have many interests and study many subjects. I’d have to create a hundred niche blogs to cover them all.
At Medium, there’s a ready-made audience on many subjects. I can read about and write about all the things that interest me.
I made three cents right off the bat; don’t laugh. On those other content sites, I waited a long time to see any money.
I’ve only been here a short time, and those pennies are starting to pile up. I’m beginning to think I could make a nice supplemental income. I’m learning the ropes around Medium. At first, I didn’t understand about curation and the other publications.
After writing a variety of articles, I think a niche is starting to narrow down. I have an idea for an ebook. I feel enthusiastic and look forward to turning on my computer in the morning.
I credit Medium for all the joy I’m feeling.
