Why are Earnings in the Toilet
Where did our earnings go?
I didn't enter the writing contest, so you won't hear sour grapes from me. But, something is rotten in the state of Denmark. It seems that all earnings are in freefall. Why? If your earnings are continuing to soar, let us all know.
Is it my imagination that it coincided with the announcement of the contest winners? That was a big chunk of money paid out. I'd like to know what Ev paid Natalie Portman to help select the winner. My theory is that our earnings are paying off the cost of the contest. Maybe it's a stupid, paranoid theory, but it's mine.
Before Medium announced that they wanted us to engage with other writers by reading and commenting, I made pocket-change. After that announcement, I started posting an article every day. I spent most of my time reading and commenting. My earnings took off like a bullet.
Yesterday, I made a paltry ZERO! You read that correctly, zilch.
Now, I need to decide if writing on Medium is worth my time. I should spend more time studying Spanish. I am a visual artist and have neglected painting because my time went to writing.
I'd like to know what everyone else's opinions are. Do you plan to keep writing for Medium? I'd appreciate your opinions.
